Трявянистое растение, именуемое огурец – знают все. И очень давно – уже в эпоху Среднего царства в Древнем Египте (более 4-х тысяч лет назад) его выращивали на берегах Нила. Родиной огурца считают долины Гималайских гор, откуда растение начало своё победное шествие по планете.
Не обошёл огурец и Иран. Здесь он возделывается повсюду – от побережья Аравийского моря, до предгорий Копет-Дага и Кавказа.

Сегодня же мы пройдёмся по фруктовому базару Доброго города Хамедана и полюбуемся этим фруктом. Ибо огурец в Иране – это фрукт, такой же здесь уважаемый и любимый, как персики, груши или яблоки…
В Хамедане сельхоз базар – в самом центре города, в десятках метров от площади Имама. Всё, что дарит земля и воды этого благодатного края привозится сюда и предлагается хамеданцем: фрукты и ягоды, бахчёвые и овощи, мясо и рыба.
Я сделал здесь много фотографий и приглашу вас сюда ещё ни один раз. А пока – огурцы…
Они лежали на прилавках большими кучами. Собранные на заре, они хранили росу и свежесть этого сентябрьского утра…
Плод огурца содержит витамины А, В, С и микроэлементы. Улучшает аппетит и хорошо утоляет жажду. А сок широко применяется в косметике – для лосьонов и мазей.
Моё фото внимание к продавцам огурцов не осталось без последствий – почти каждый из них просил отведать этот его фрукт и дарил несколько огурчиков. А так как Хамедан был последним пунктом нашего путешествия по Ирану,
то несколько штук я привёз и домой – в Ригу, где близкие по достоинству оценили вкуснейшие иранские огурцы.
