City of masters

Part 1.

20 kilometers north of the Good City of Hamadan, amidst green gardens and fields, there is a small, but famous for all Iran town – Laljin. But far from generous harvests of peasants carried his glory through the ages. The town was famous for its great masters. Therefore Lalecin is called – City of Masters …

… For a thousand years before our era, people discovered that here, in place of the current Laljin, there are layers of unusual clay. The dishes from it turned out solid and ringing. From the wonderful clay easily beasted animals and people. And even capricious gods did not get angry, having assumed a clay face here.

The proximity to the capital of the Great Media – the city of Ekbatan carried the glory of the potters of Laljin to all parts of the world: from the Great Hapi country – to the west, to the Holy Ganges – to the east.
Centuries and millennia passed. But all the merchants and caravaners on the Great Silk Road – from the mysterious country of Han on the bank of the River Okean, beyond which the Sun sleeps to the invincible and eternal Rome – knew: in any heat the water will be fresh and tasty, and the wine will remain wine and will not turn sour in the far and a long road, if it is poured into vessels made in Lallegin …

In 1221, a terrible disaster struck the town. Hordes of undersized, narrow-eyed and ruthless horsemen, who came from distant eastern steppes, looted and burned Hamadan. The masters who mastered the swords, fell into their native clay wet nurse. And the survivors, on the orders of the beardless Genghiz Khan, were driven to the end of the world – to no one led by the Karakorum. Only 7 potters were saved in Laljin, having managed to hide in the surrounding mountains. They preserved the great pottery art of the Ancient World for posterity.

Laljins say that there are more than 900 pottery workshops in their town. Their various products are sold in 300 stores of the city, are transported throughout Iran and even sent abroad. With a population of about 50 thousand – this is not anywhere else.
At the entrance to Lalhedzhin the guests are greeted by a monument to the Master – the Lalecin potter. Today we walked through the streets of the town, going into the shops and admiring the magnificence of clay masterpieces. And tomorrow we are waiting for the holy-saints of every master – his workshop. And I will share with you the ancient secret, which made Laljin’s pottery the best in ancient times, and today.
Till!

… And some music …
