Maestro from Hamedan

In the center of the Good City of Khamedan, next to the mausoleum of Avicenna, the great healer of antiquity, the salon and creative workshop of the wonderful master and talented artist Mr. Mohammad Eslampanoh are comfortably located.

Almost sixty years ago, as a teenager, young Mohammad first picked up soft and supple clay. He learned to work with her on the simplest potter’s wheel, rotating his leg. What she was masterful, this clay!
But it still needs to be burned. He mastered the wood-burning ceramic forge – gas appeared later. I often swallowed tears when the most beautiful dishes and jugs cracked in a relentless fire.

And once, forty years ago, on one of the last days of winter, he gave away all his best works to friends, neighbors, passers-by from the street. Indeed, a great holiday came to the ancient land of Iran – the people overthrew the power of the hated shah. Then joy gave way to great grief: the divisions of the bloody Saddam invaded the young Islamic Republic of Iraq. On the homeland, on the beloved Khamedan, bombs and missiles with markings in Russian fell in. Then it was not time for art – he cleared the rubble from the bombing, helped refugees, looked after the wounded, buried fellow countrymen …

Years passed. Gradually, mastery came, which turns a craftsman into an artist. I was carried away by painting, its secrets, when unprepossessing-looking dyes, having been on fire, particles of the sun, sky, garden turn.
Today, every item in the salon of Master Eslampanoha is a small masterpiece.
Students have already grown and gained experience, and Maestro Mohammad no longer sculpts ceramics, does not burn them. He does the main thing – he paints blue, like the sky of Iran, green, like the fields and gardens of Iran, golden, like the sun over Iran, colors that merge and intersect, forming one of the images of the homeland – Beautiful Iran.

We brought several products from the salon of maestro Eslampanoha – for ourselves and for friends. Have you ever been given a dish with the gifts of the fertile Iranian land – almonds and pistachios, raisins and dates?
